Five Days...
In just five days, he plunged this country into pure chaos. This is me purging the anger from within, being laid bare on the internet forever.
“The road to fascism is paved with the people who told you to stop overreacting…”
Alas, I do not know where the aforementioned quote came from, but it holds true. The ultimate form of gaslighting comes from white men who have never had a thing to fear; who have never had their rights stripped away or even called into question. Even worse, coming from women who have traded away their rights…and their daughters…and their granddaughters….for eggs that they, undoubtedly, will be whipping up every morning for their fascist husbands.
Our worst fears have been imagined for the second time, but this time I fear the consequences of those who believed in a narcissistic tyrant may be the death of America; the death of our democracy.
I am now of the firm belief that it is us who have been deceived and propagandized. For this nation that we once believed to be the greatest has ceased to exist. If it ever did exist. The world mocks us…and pities those of us who have chosen to believe in the idea of a better place to live for ALL…not just for the rich oligarchs who have traded their souls for immense riches.
In five days…my god, has it only been five days? In five days, a dictator and his band of loyal, evil men have turned our world…and hopes…upside down. I straddle a fine line of wanting to be continuously informed of every “We have breaking news” moment to wanting to hide away, disassociate and wait for the destruction to be done.
Are you still with me? If so, I humbly thank you. If so, I ask what will you do to stop the madness and mayhem that will surely change our world as we know it? Will you stand up to the Bully In Chief? Will you rebel, resist and revolt?
I plead with you to do what you can. If all you can do is boycott, then boycott. If you can march, then march. If you can protest, then protest. If you have talents that will aid in our mission, put them to use. If you have winter boots, strap them on.
This is it. This is the moment that everything changes. This is the moment we become the heroine of our own dystopian novel that will live on in history books one day.
Hitler was able to dismantle a democracy in only 53 days.
It’s been five days…tick tock.
